Deep Freeze Defiance: Choosing Roll Labels for Cold Storage in Canada

From frozen seafood distributors in Halifax to craft breweries in Toronto, one of the most frequent technical questions we get at our Markham facility (Unit 5) is: "Will your stickers fall off in the freezer?"

Canadian cold-chain logistics are brutal on packaging. If you use standard paper labels, the condensation will turn them into mush. However, using our [custom roll labels] made from waterproof BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) is the perfect solution—if you know the golden rule of application.

The Golden Rule: Room Temperature First
A common mistake businesses make is trying to apply a sticker to a product that is already frozen.
Here is the industry secret: Our BOPP labels perform flawlessly in the freezer, provided they are applied to a clean surface that has NO water and NO ice on it.

How to Apply for Maximum Cold Adhesion:

  1. Dry and Room Temp: Apply the label while your bottle, jar, or box is at room temperature and completely dry.

  2. Apply Firm Pressure: Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) needs friction to "wet out" and grab the microscopic pores of your packaging.

  3. The Curing Period: Let the labeled product sit for a short period before exposing it to extreme temperature drops.

Once the adhesive has properly bonded to a dry surface, you can throw it directly into the deep freeze. The plastic-based BOPP material and the cured adhesive will easily withstand extreme sub-zero temperatures without peeling, cracking, or losing color vibrancy.

Don't let cold temperatures ruin your branding. Choose the right material and the right application method.
